How to Revive some Lost Christmast Traditions

Christmas nowadays seems to be so comerialized a that we forget what Christmas is really about. We see the stress, the long lines, the endless to-do list, etc. Consequently, this season can be one of the most stressful seasons of the year.  However, we must not forget some Christmas traditions. So here are a few ideas of how to revive some lost Christmas Traditions.

  1. Have a Christmas cookout party. Make popcorn by the fire. Roast apples.  You can even decorate your Christmas tree with popcorn. I remember doing this when I was a little girl ( beware it is very messy, especially with young children, so don’t let that make you from preventing you from continuing this tradition.)
  2. Go caroling. This will be a fun event to do with friends and family. Don’t worry if you can’t sing, you can still participate by playing the drums or bells, or any other instrument you can safely carry around.
  3. Baking. Tis the season for baking. I love baking, especially this time of year, when I can give homemade breads, cookies, and other treats to my friends.
  4. If you want to get really traditional, then get a yule log, and light it every night and enjoy it with your family.
  5. Tell fireside stories. Since is cold outside, it is the best time to tell stories after dinner. Just gather your family or friends around the fire and retell one of  your family’s favorite story or be more adventurous and read a new book to everyone. I always loved when my father read aloud to everyone after dinner, as it gave us an hour to relax and spend time together.
  6.  Make your own Christmas Decorations. As a kid this was one of my favorite activities, and it is fairly inexpensive. And think about all the memories that you will have from years to come from the decorations and ornaments you created. So get crafting.

I hope that you will do at least some of these suggestions and have a Merry Christmas!
