Simplicity: A Lost Art

Hello,

In today’s post, we are going to be looking at Simplicity, and how this aspect seems lost in our modern living.

In our culture we are constantly advertised to consume. Everywhere we go, there are signs of the latest technology, entertainment, product, clothing, etc.  And we feel that we need to have these things to fit in society.

However, I think that the opposite should be true. I know that if I get everything out there that the world deems trendy,  I will still feel empty. Just because we have the latest gadgets  or fashion, does not mean we are happy or fulfilled.

That I why I think that simplicity should make a comeback to our society. We can do so much more when we are not leaden down with worldly things and put more  value in  nature and our relationships. lavender-1344362_640

I find for myself that I feel heavy and overwhelmed when I am surrounded by a lot of things.  This is because I am thinking about how long it will take to organize, clean, and maintain these items.  Now, it is not a bad thing to maintain the  items that  I love and use, but if just organizing those things takes so much time that I can’t seem to keep my room clean, then I have too much stuff. Having simplicity in my life has helped me feel less overwhelmed.

So if you are overwhelmed by stuff, then try to simplify. De-clutter your space. Make your motto, “Less is more.” Evaluate what you really want to be and if the things you want will help you get there. Spend more time in nature. Have a family picnic day, go for a hike, ride your bike. Doing these things will help you rediscover the simple lifestyle and recover the art of simplicity.  You don’t need to spend money to live beautifully, happily, and conscientiously.  Also living simply will help you value the things that are worth valuing such as family and friends.

So I urge you dear readers to try to simplify your life. You won’t regret it.
