Hello,
In today’s post I will be sharing some books that my Lost Art Society letter mates and I are going to be reading and analyzing over the next few weeks.
So the first book up is,
“The Lost Arts of Modern Civilization: How to taste and See the Abundance of Life” by Mitchell Kalpakgian. This book explores all the lost arts from dressing with dignity, writing letters, hospitality, and courtship. This book sums up the majority of the arts that seem lost in our modern society, and I am quite eager to read and review this book.
The next book is
“The Virtues We need Again: 21 Life Lessons from the Great Books of the West.” by the same author Mitchell Kalpakgian. Back in the Victorian Era, many books were meant to both be enjoyed and instruct. If anyone is familiar with the Lamplighter Books, then you know what genre of books I am talking about. If not, I highly suggest looking up Lamplighter Books, you won’t be disappointed. So this book provides an in depth review of the virtues that are presented in classic literature that seem lost in our modern society. I can’t wait to read this one as well.
And finally, the last book that I am going to review is
“The Lost Arts of Hearth and Home: The Happy Luddite’s Guide to Domestic Self-Sufficiency.” Since I am very interested in keeping house neat, organized, and clean, I thought this would be a good book to read. Back in the day, mothers passed on to their daughters various methods of cleaning, cooking, and organization. It seems today that this practice is lost. I can say this for myself as most of the cleaning tips I learned was from the internet. So I hope with this book, the art of true housekeeping can be revived, and women can rediscover and take pleasure in their skills of keeping house.
That is all the books worth reading for now. I hope you enjoyed reading this post, and found some nice books to read as well.
I will see you soon,
Alyssa
